Bermuda Residence

Bermuda

The clients desired an interior design program that united elements of traditional Bermudian architecture (the “Buttery” with it’s stepped ceiling design, which is used as a family room, for example) with contemporary and unique furnishings and artworks to create a fresh, exciting, livable palette for the vacation home.

Although a large home, programmatically, clients architectural directive was to create something that registered closer to a traditional Bermuda cottage from the front approach and main elevations. Sited into a sloping terrain which slopes downward toward the ocean, It’s not until you view the house from the rear elevations that you understand it is actually two stories. The use of the topography and stacking the program allows all of the bedrooms and living spaces to have dramatic ocean views.
